The architectural ensemble consisting of the Kurhaus (hotel), the Kurplatz with pavilion, the pergolas and the Wandelhallen forms the center of the Binzer beach promenade. Events, concerts and festivals take place from May to September on the Kurplatz, which was laid out in 1937. The Kurplatz in Binz was named in honor of the Kurhaus, which was built in 1893. It offers a fantastic view of the sea, Sassnitz and the chalk coast as well as the Binz pier.
In order to upgrade the theater and stage space for contemporary events, the pavilion was extended with a new canopy made of textile architecture. The sensitive handling of the existing architecture from the 1930s has resulted in a solution that translates the architectural forms into the present.
