It is a temporary low-budget pavilion in which recycling, the use of locally available materials and the possibility of dismantling for later reuse were fundamental aspects in order to achieve a balance between design and available resources.
The economy was understood here as the spatial possibility itself, which was summarized in three elements: Wooden huts that house the functional spaces (bar, kitchen, technical room and storage), a recycled balloon with a diameter of 6.8 m and a fabric that connects both elements.
The hybrid character of the pavilion stems from the intention to contrast elements without distorting them. In this sense, the expression of this construction is a kind of conflict that integrates elements of different structural and material nature: the taut textile fabric, the inflatable material and load-bearing structures made of local wood. The semi-stable and semi-unstable pavilion creates a dialog between the material and the ethereal, between bones and cartilage, between fixed and apparently free elements and others that elude us and enable other readings and relationships.
The fabric of the hull is also used for sailing. Its sound and vibration enable the sailor to read the wind. Depending on the weather, the balloon is subject to pressure fluctuations, on which the tensions and thus the silhouette of the entire pavilion depend. The pavilion thus seeks tangible relationships rather than forms.
